Author: huifan   Time: 2017-12-11

Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Administrator David Pekoske said this week that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is considering merging its two trusted traveler programs, according to Travelmarket Report.
Pekoske said that merging the TSA’s PreCheck program with the Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) Global Entry programs would streamline management and possibly enhance security.
PreCheck is administered by the TSA while Global Entry is managed by CBP. Pekoske said there about 12 million people enrolled in both programs and that merging the two programs could enable the two agencies to increase enrollment and help unify biometrics initiatives at TSA and CBP By Fingerpint & face verification.

In October, CBP and the TSA ran a pilot project at JFK to assess the use of biometric technology to verify travelers’ identities.
