A few days ago German police detained 12 people involved in the manufacture and sale of forged COVID-19 vaccine passports. According to news reports, the forgeries were sold for up to 400 euros each.
German police on Wednesday arrested 12 people suspected of being involved in the manufacture and sale of forged COVID-19 vaccine certificates.
More than 200 police officers were involved in raids on 23 sites throughout the central German state and two cities in the neighboring state of Baden-Württemberg, criminal investigators in Hesse said in a press statement.
Vaccine passports - whether shown as QR codes or official vaccine paper booklets - are required as evidence of vaccination. Most bars, restaurants and entertainment facilities require proof of vaccination or recovery from infection. Some also allow proof of a recent negative test.
What did the police find?
The police investigation led them to two prime suspects. A 36-year-old man suspected of falsifying vaccine documents and a 42-year-old man suspected of selling the vaccines.
The two men are accused of handling forged QR codes and paper documents. Police also detained 10 other people during the raid.
Police estimate the number of counterfeit products to be at least 300, with a similar number of customers. The prices of the counterfeit documents ranged from 100 to 400 euros ($113 to $452). They also found cell phones and data storage devices.
Officials confiscated forged blank vaccine passports and tens of thousands of euros in cash.
Investigators were able to track down 20 people suspected of buying fake vaccine passports
Vaccine certificates are an important tool for a country's epidemic control and a guarantee of public health, and cannot be falsified. Secondly, Germany's tightened vaccine policy has made it easier for some people who refuse to register for vaccines to do so.
Germany Tightens Winter COVID Passport Rules
Germany is in the midst of a dramatic fourth wave of COVID and is implementing stricter vaccine certification measures nationwide.
COVID Restrictions in Germany: Vaccine Passport Required
Recently, Germany introduced the 2G and 3G systems, creating a distinction between those who are tested and those who are vaccinated or recovered.
Merkel called the situation in Germany "worrying" and agreed with her cabinet on several new COVID passport rules for Germany.
For the additional restrictions to be imposed, local governments will refer to the hospitalization rate rather than the infection rate. Once the hospitalization rate reaches 3 per 100,000 people, the 2G rule will apply and the German vaccine passport will be used throughout.
Under the new criteria, a hospitalization rate of more than 6 per 100,000 people will cause the state to enter 2G+ status, requiring a PCR test on top of a certificate of recovery and vaccination.
Once the value spikes above 9, stricter measures will be implemented to restrict almost all exposures.
All German states except Hamburg, Lower Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein and Saarland are above the threshold of 3.
The new rule comes after Saxony and Bavaria pre-emptively implemented the 2G rule in early November. Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia already exceed 9 and will therefore face the strictest measures.
The threshold of 3 sets 2G limits for services that require close contact such as gastronomic services, accommodation, events and salons.
Workplaces will continue to operate under the 3G rules.
COVID-19 testing continues to be free in Germany.
Due to rising infection rates, bars and nightclubs have been mandatorily closed in areas where the COVID-19 infection rate exceeds 350 per 100,000 people per week.
What are the 2G rules in Germany?
Germany has introduced a 2G and 3G system to distinguish between vaccinated and unvaccinated residents.
When the 3G system was implemented, vaccinated people could pass the PCR test to enter public places as long as they did not exceed 72 hours.
Once a state moves to 2G, PCR testing is no longer accepted as a valid method of entry and only vaccinated and rehabilitated residents with a German COVID pass can use the facility.
The full exemption in the EU digital COVID certificate once the vaccination process has been completed has reached 14 days, issued in Germany.
A new level of 2G+ has also been introduced for the most affected areas. 2G+ rules require PCR testing, despite having been vaccinated or being in a state of recovery.
How to deal with the COVID-19 vaccine forgery problem?
Vaccine certificates are now a key tool for vaccine prevention and have been well proven to be of great use after more than a year of practice.
Huifan Technology has added the function of identity authentication on the basis of the existing identification health code, which effectively ensures the function of double authentication,
Take Germany as an example, the user will place the QR code under the RA08T scanning module, the device will automatically identify the information of the health code, and can choose which information to show to the public according to the user's request. I own it
